What happens to my Interval pre-paid memberships?

Jun 29, 2010 | Timeshare Talk | 0 comments

When you opt into the new Marriott Destinations Club program, you will be provided with a new Interval membership number. So what happens to your old Interval account? If you cancel it, Interval will refund you your unused membership dues. But if you have unredeemed weeks in the bank, you will lose them. Your only option then is to keep it open and take “compensation”. You will also continue to pay trade fees to exchange the deposits in your old Interval account.

To “compensate” you for what you have pre-paid in dues, Marriott will issue Interval Bonus Weeks (aka Accommodation Certificates). You know…those restricted use weeks that are difficult to use and cost you a fee when you trade them. Based upon the number of years you have remaining with Interval depends on how many certificates you receive:
5 years+ – 1 bonus certificate issued within 30 days, 1 at the end of the 3rd year and 1 at the beginning of the 5th year.
3-4 years – 1 bonus certificate within 30 days and 1 in the 3rd year
2 years or less – 1 bonus certificate within 30 days.
