We decided to spend the day in the car driving around the island of Majorca. Heading north and around to the west was recommended to us due to the stunning sea views and landscapes.

We started our trip by driving to Soller, a small town 30 miles from the Marriott resort. The road to Soller leads you into the mountains. You have 2 choices: take a tunnel through the mountain or spend another 20 minutes weaving your way around the mountain. Against all recommendations we chose to take our chances on the mountain road and we are glad that we did. The landscape was spectacular— lemon and olive trees on stone-walled terraces and farmhouses on the edge of cliffs.

Soller itself was very busy with tourists but we had an enjoyable lunch sitting in the town square next to the church.

The town sits on a calm bay surrounded by mountains. It would have been a great choice for lunch as well.

Our drive continued on to Deia, Valldemossa and Banyalbafur. All small and some even tiny towns but the drive to these locations offered fantastic views of the sea.
If I didn’t know I was in Spain I would have thought we were in Kauai looking at the Napili Coast.

This was a fun way to spend the day and it gave us an opportunity to see the beauty of Majorca that we couldn’t imagine from being inland at the Marriott resort.
