Dubai, UAE

Dubai is an exercise in pure decadence, from its glittering international business district and luxury boutiques to its skyline dominated by cloud-piercing skyscrapers. Tour the pristine downtown and ride to the top of the Burj Khalifa—the tallest building in the world at 2,716.5 feet—then hop on a yacht for a Persian Gulf cruise. Or, if you’re feeling more adventurous, head for the city limits and board a camel for a Bedouin-style desert safari. Return in time to see the Dubai Fountain show at Burj Khalifa Lake, where water shoots 50 stories in the air, choreographed with lights and music.

Egypt

Every traveler should make a pilgrimage to Egypt, the cradle of civilization, at least once. Fly into bustling Cairo and book into a luxury hotel like the Four Seasons Nile Plaza. Then take day trips (accompanied by our Egyptologist tour guide) to see nearby architectural treasures, such as the Giza Pyramids and Sphinx, the limestone Colossus of Ramses II and the necropolis at Saqqara. From there, fly south, to Luxor, and board a four-day Nile River cruise to marvel at the famed Valley of Kings and Queens,  Temple of Karnak, Aswan Dam and more.

Masada, Israel

This ancient fortress and UNESCO World Heritage Site sits atop a rocky plateau overlooking the Dead Sea, in Israel’s Southern District. The ruins offer a fascinating glimpse into the Kingdom of Israel around the time of 1st century BC. They’re also an enduring symbol of strength and determination for the Israeli people, and often used for ceremonies such as weddings, and Bar or Bat Mitzvahs (we can arrange the latter on your behalf). Visit on a day trip from Jerusalem or Tel Aviv, and ascend on foot or via a cable car running from the tourist center at the base.
