Australia & New Zealand

Start your adventure here!

Kangaroo Island, Australia

This pristine wilderness off the southern coast of Australia is home to massive nature reserves, and a jaw-dropping array of wildlife—sea lions, penguins, koalas, kangaroos, native birds and many more. Check into an on-island resort (we love the luxe Southern Ocean Lodge) and spend some time cycling, sailing, surfing or kayaking in the reserves. Then tempt your taste buds at the island’s wineries, microbreweries, distilleries and small-scale harvesters of produce such as honey and olive oil.

Queenstown, New Zealand

This outdoor-adventure paradise sits on the shore of the South Island’s Lake Wakatipu, at the base of the Southern Alps. You can golf, rock-climb, zipline, skydive, or even go bungee jumping. For a real adrenalin rush, book a four-wheel-drive tour of Skippers Canyon Road. This winding former mining route north of the city teeters along precarious cliffs, more than earning its title as New Zealand’s most dangerous road. You’ll wrap up at Shotover River, where you’ll jump in a jet boat for a breathless 30-minute ride through narrow canyons at speeds of up to 50 mph.

Melbourne, Australia

Australia’s second-largest metropolis is also its cultural heart, with incredible art, fashion, shopping, sports and dining scenes. One of the city’s most distinctive features is its more than 200 laneways, decorated with street art and populated by world-renowned restaurants, cafes, galleries, and pubs. The beaches aren’t half-bad either—the most iconic is Brighton Beach, south of downtown, known for its brightly colored huts.
